Forsyth County Georgia is located 30 miles north of Atlanta in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and extends over most of the west side of a 20 mile long, 37,000 acre Army Corp of Engineers Reservoir - Lake Lanier. The Forsyth County School System features 35 schools which are all accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and have exceeded the standards as defined and measured by the Georgia Department of Education. Our schools are experiencing ever-increasing growth rates as more and more families are attracted to our smaller, caring schools where the type of personalized education they are seeking for their children is available and where excellence is the standard. Forsyth County schools that have been classified as Georgia Schools of Excellence include Big Creek Elementary School, Chattahoochee Elementary School, Forsyth Central High School, Matt Elementary School, Midway Elementary School, North Forsyth Middle School, North Forsyth High School, Otwell Middle School, Sharon Elementary School and South Forsyth High School. Forsyth County schools that have been classified as No Child Left Behind - Blue Ribbon Schools include Big Creek Elementary School and Otwell Middle School.
