Those persons owning and occupying property as a permanent residence as of January 1 of the effective year may apply for the homestead exemption anytime before MARCH 1.
A homestead exemption is available to property owners who occupy their home as their primary residence. Additional exemptions are available to those aged 62 or over and those 100% disabled. Once you receive this exemption, you do not have to reapply each year unless there has been an ownership change by means of a legal instrument. Homestead exemptions are filed with the Tax Assessors office in Canton. The office is currently located on the ground floor of the old court house, suite G20 (yellow brick addition).Requirements for all Homestead Exemptions:
